Terms of use

Last updated October 10, 2026.

Smart Withdrawal (“the planner”, “we”) is a free retirement planning calculator. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

An educational estimate, not advice

The planner produces estimates for education and general information. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and it does not recommend any product. It does not know your full situation. Before you act on a plan (for example a withdrawal, a contribution, or a CPP or OAS start date) check it with a licensed professional.

Estimates can be wrong

Results depend on what you enter and on assumptions (steady investment returns, current tax rules indexed to inflation, the life expectancy you choose) that will not match the future exactly. Tax and benefit rules change. The planner does not model every situation; the How accurate is it? page lists what it checks and what it leaves out. We work to keep the calculations correct but do not promise they are free of errors.

No warranty

The planner is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We may change, pause or stop it at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the planner or from decisions you make based on its results, including financial losses, taxes, penalties or lost benefits.

Fair use

Please don’t overload the service, scrape it automatically, try to break its security, or use it for anything unlawful. We limit how often plans can be run and may block traffic that looks automated.

Privacy

The privacy page explains what the planner does with the numbers you enter.
